Causes of Diarrhea in Dogs

If you are a dog breeder, you may have had a stomach ache at least once in your life. In general, we find that many people take this abdominal pain lightly. But in fact, dogs can get hungry for a number of reasons, from simple to more complex. So by reading this article with a good understanding you will be able to get a very clear understanding about this.

Stomach cramps are actually more of a "symptom" than a disease. That is, due to some complex problem inside the body, a condition called starvation may arise as a visible feature. This may be due to a small or unexpected cause. Awareness of these causes will make it easier to cure the condition. We will now describe the various causes that can cause dogs to develop these conditions of starvation. (Here are some facts you may not have known at all before).

1. Because the dog eats something unclean:

Dogs generally have a stronger digestive tract than humans. So they can easily get upset just by eating something dirty like us. But in some cases, they may develop a stomach condition due to ingestion of a substance or a spoiled food that contains germs that are not even tolerable to their stomach. It is also said that swallowing liquids such as indigestible pieces of plastic and polythene can cause bloating, which can sometimes lead to constipation.

2. Food Allergies:

Humans as well as animals can be allergic to certain foods. These allergies can vary from dog to dog. That is, just because one dog is allergic to a certain food does not mean it can be the same for other dogs. But if your dog has frequent cramps, be careful about what you feed the dog. Pork, beef, soy, wheat products, corn or flour products, and foods containing certain pigments or flavorings are considered to be allergic to many dogs. But once again. Allergy is a symptom that can be unique to each dog and is not a common problem for all dogs. Therefore, if your dog is allergic to any food, it is best to avoid that food. Consult a veterinarian for more information.

3. Overeating dog food:

This problem is especially prevalent when serving processed foods (Dogfoods). The digestive capacity of each dog is different. Also, the dog's ability to digest food may increase or decrease with age. While some types of dogfood may be difficult for your dog to digest, another dog may not have any problems with that type. It's not the dog's fault, it's the dog's digestion. So if a dog finds any type of dogfood difficult to digest, we can see that changing the type often solves the problem.

Also, there are generally two categories of any dog food: adult food and puppy food. This Puppy food is specially formulated to be given to the little ones and its nutritional value is quite high. Adult food is tailored to suit adult dogs. We also personally know that some adult and especially older dogs show signs of indigestion when they are given puppy food. (Keep in mind that this is also not common to all dogs). Therefore, by being aware of these facts as well, you will be able to know beyond a doubt whether such a situation exists.

Not just dogfood. It can be seen that even dogs that have difficulty digesting something like pork, which is high in fat, have no problem feeding chicken. So get a proper understanding of your dog's digestive system by experimenting with those facts on veterinary advice.

4. Quick change of usual foods:

In general, many dogs (especially small puppies) experience sudden abdominal pain as a result. That is, a sudden change in the diet of the dog, which has been accustomed to the dog's stomach for a long time, causes digestive problems in many dogs and causes constipation. Frequent defecation is especially common in newborn puppies during the weaning period (at 4 weeks of age).
Even adult dogs are more likely to develop these symptoms, especially when switching from one type of dogfood to another.
These conditions often heal over time, but this problem can be greatly reduced if dietary changes are made systematically.

That is, for example, when introducing a new type of dogfood to a dog, get the new type before the expiration of the old type of dogfood, and gradually mix the two types and give it to the dog. Within a few days you can increase the size of the new type and switch to a completely new type of Dogfood. Doing this in a systematic way often minimizes the risk of problems. (Nevertheless, note again the point mentioned in 3 above).

5. Worm diseases:

Dogs can sometimes have starvation conditions, even when there are high levels of worm disease. Especially here you can often see a small amount of blood coming out with the stool. So be sure to give anthelmintics on time. If for some reason there is no complete cure with one type of antidote, you can ask the veterinarian if the type should be changed.

6. Bacterial or Amoeba Infections:

Diarrhea caused by a bacterial infection or Ameba parasite has also been reported to affect dogs. It is often thought that drinking water or eating something near dirty drains or public garbage dumps is more likely to cause such conditions. It is important to seek veterinary advice as soon as possible as these conditions can be life threatening to the dog. Bleeding with the stool is also a common symptom. A stool or blood test can detect these conditions (especially Ameba infections).

7. Parvo Virus Infection:

You may recall that we described Parvo disease earlier. Pauro's disease is usually caused by a foul-smelling diarrhea. There may also be blood in the stool or black diarrhea. If these symptoms are present, the sick dog should be immediately separated from other dogs and a veterinarian should be consulted immediately. Or this could be fatal. For more information on Parvo disease, see our article at this link: Read more about Parvo

8. Stress:

Dogs that are under a great deal of stress can also develop hunger pangs. (You may recall that this is common to some people as well. It has been found today that dogs can have abdominal pain, just as some people have abdominal cramps when going to a job interview or giving a talk on stage. )
Examples of cases where the husband is generally overweight are usually due to stress, not eating properly, being tied up all day and not exercising at all.
Also, taking the dog to a new home can cause stress and show these symptoms.
When a new dog is brought into the home, there are times when even a dog that was previously in the home may experience some stress and show signs of temporary abdominal pain. Take care of that. Working to relieve stress often avoids these problems.

9. By retaining the need for defecation for a long time:

This is an opportunity that many people overlook. But experts point out that if a dog is forced to defecate for long periods of time, it may unwittingly become hungry. It is often said that this can be affected when the dog has to travel a long distance in a vehicle or when left alone at home for a long time. (Sometimes this can cause constipation or even constipation.)

10. During pregnancy or during heat:

It has been reported that some dogs may develop mild cramping during periods of hormonal changes in their body. The most common of these hormonal changes occur during the heat or gestation period of females. So it is important to be aware of that. Often, such situations are temporary.

In this article you will learn about the causes of starvation in dogs. Now let's see what you can do if your dog has a stomach ache.

In case of a minor stomach ache, do not panic at once. Often in such a case, avoid the next meal. This will give the stomach time to recover.

Keep an eye out for persistent bloating.

Thoroughly clean the defecation areas. Do not allow other dogs in the house to enter the area.

If diarrhea persists for more than 24 hours, special care should be taken. In this case, it is better to diagnose and treat the disease on the advice of a qualified veterinarian rather than giving home remedies.

If this is a more serious condition, such as parvo or amebiasis, it may be too late to receive proper treatment.

If the animal shows signs of weakness, along with diarrhea, and vomiting, treatment should be sought without delay. Pay more attention, especially if you have a small calf.

The dog should not be allowed to become dehydrated. It is advisable to provide adequate fluids such as water and Jeevani
